While I love traveling more than anything, I always look forward to returning to my hometown. Living in several different countries has taught me to appreciate what I have at home. Mountains, lakes, serene nature and clean air – to mention a few – are things that I used to take for granted when I was younger. Now, sometimes I see my hometown with the eyes of a tourist and I perceive the beauty of the place where I grew up. Going out, being active and exploring my surroundings is now part of every weekend I spend at home.

The right equipment is essential to make the most out of an outdoor adventure. When I got the chance to collaborate with Aleader I was excited about their products immediately. Aleader was founded in 2013 in California and they provide footwear for outdoor activities. At Aleader they hope to be an inspiration to get outside, share the passion of outdoor culture and challenge ourselves in the mountains, water, and deserts of our planet. Being an outdoor-lover, Aleader’s values speak to me and align with what I stand for.

My hometown Gmunden is a small town in Upper Austria surrounded by mountains and lake Traunsee. In summer you can do water sports and climb mountains and in winter you can go skiing or do snow hikes. It’s the perfect place for adventurers like me. Getting outside in Gmunden was a great occasion to test the water shoes by Aleader. They can be used for walking through water as well as for walking on land.

When I tried the shoes on for the first time I was pleasantly surprised as they fit perfectly and they feel really comfortable. After walking in them for a while I was still highly satisfied with the quality and comfort of the shoes. Even wearing them without socks they didn’t rub or irritate the skin. Unlike most other sport shoes, Aleader’s water shoes almost feel like a second skin. As a traveller I find them especially convenient because they are lightweight and they fit in any bag.

I did a short run on the lakeside to test the shoes in water. Thanks to the light material they don’t feel any less comfortable or heavier when they’re wet. This makes them the perfect shoes for outdoor adventures in summer like boating, kayaking or stand up paddling for example.

Apart from water sports, the shoes can also be worn on short hikes. Imagine doing a hike and you need to cross a river or you want to visit a waterfall. With Aleader shoes you don’t have to worry about getting wet feet anymore because the shoes are made for exactly that. Plus, they dry really quickly once you’re on land again.

But be aware that even a slightly wet ground will get your feet wet. So I wouldn’t recommend the water shoes for cold or wet days and neither for climbing high mountains. They are more suitable for short hikes on a warm and sunny day. All in all I’m really happy with the shoes by Aleader. They have great quality and the design is aesthetically pleasing. I can’t wait to wear them on my upcoming outdoor adventures!

If you’re an outdoor-active person like me I recommend getting a pair of Aleader shoes for any water adventures. Use the discount code “MARIA15” to get 15% off your order at Aleader!
