A good breakfast is the perfect way to start the day with energy and in a good mood. Especially when I travel I love getting up in the morning and trying out different breakfast places everyday. Being Mexico’s second biggest city, Guadalajara has a lot to offer when it comes to restaurants. Here are my top 3 breakfast places in Guadalajara.

Peligro al Fondo

Peligro al Fondo already convinces you at the first moment when you enter the place. Lots of plants, nice interior and it gives you a feeling as if you’re sitting in a quiet garden even though you’re in the middle of the city. It’s like an escape from everyday life into a place surrounded by nature.

Peligro al Fondo, Breakfast in Guadalajara

Peligro al Fondo is famous for their delicious pancakes. If you’re a fan of pancakes I definitely suggest you go for them, they look amazing. I personally don’t like pancakes that much so I had an avocado toast and a smoothie which were yummy as well. I highly recommend tasting one of their smoothies too.

P’al Real

P’al Real is one of Guadalajara’s most visited breakfast hotspots. Especially coffee lovers will appreciate this café. They have a great variety of coffee and an in-house roastery. Besides that they offer the usual breakfast options from granola and fruits to eggs and sandwiches.

Chilaquiles, P'al Real, Breakfast in Guadalajara

I ordered chilaquiles in a red sauce. Chilaquiles is a typical Mexican breakfast dish consisting of corn tortillas cut in quarters and fried. They are served either with a red or a green sauce and often with cheese, avocado and red onion on top. Usually you can choose between a red or green sauce. This depends on your personal taste but I personally prefer the red sauce. At P’al Real I tried chilaquiles for the first time and until now, they were still the best ones I’ve had so far.

Fitzroy Espresso Bar

Fitzroy Espresso Bar is a popular breakfast place with a vast menu of sweet dishes, sandwiches and eggs. They’re famous for their chilaquiles so you should definitely try them. Also their toasted sandwiches are great. I had a triple cheese sandwich and cottage cheese with fruits and granola. Both dishes were amazing.

Make sure to call before to make a reservation if you go there on a weekend. We went there on a Sunday and we had to wait around 20 minutes for a table.

Breakfast in Guadalajara

For me, these are the top 3 breakfast places in Guadalajara and thinking about them I want to go back there already. This city is certainly a great place for foodies like me and you can certainly find something for every taste.

Guadalajara is a big city with lots of things to do. My favourite was a day trip to Tlaquepaque which is a lovely village with colourful houses, artistic boutique shops and cute cafés. Tlaquepaque is only a 15 minute drive from Guadalajara so it’s surely a must when you’re in Guadalajara.
